acampbell1318 58 Posted June 11, 2014 Hi everyone I am having some "head hunger" issues. I feel like I am missing my sweets and I am substituting Protein bars for it. I find myself like yesterday eating 2 Protein Bars thru out the day, just a bit here and a bit there. I am trying to stop this but my old habits are getting the best of me. I know what I have to do but any other advice would be great.
belunos 93 Posted June 11, 2014 A lot of times these bars are high in carbs. If the ones you're eating are, you are sustaining the addiction. Try replacing them with Jerky or cheese sticks, they helped me get over the head hunger (for the most part) 2 acampbell1318 and skinnygirlwithin reacted to this
acampbell1318 58 Posted June 11, 2014 sometimes I feel like I just need to chew. Maybe I should try some sugar free mints or sugar free hard candy

vsg_joanna 67 Posted June 11, 2014 You need to identify the trigger foods in your life and cut them out. For example I noticed that I'd eat the Power Crunch Protein bars when I wasn't hungry and just snacky. I could even eat two of them within a short amount of time! However, I could have four cases of Quest bars at my desk and only eat those when I am truly hungry. I told myself I wasn't allowed to keep Power Crunch bars around. I'm trying to be honest with myself and I know that even if I buy them with the best intentions.... I will cave in. Another HUGE trigger food for me is cereal- no matter how "healthy" I'll be constantly snacking on it. Haven't had Cereal at my house for two-ish years. So my advice is this: be honest with yourself. Find bars that are good enough to eat as a meal, but disappointing enough not to eat when you're dealing with head hunger. Yes, I totally believe in moderation- which is why I'd buy a single Power Crunch bar if needed sometime in the future... or eat a bowl of Cereal at my inlaw's house HOWEVER I know that I cannot just keep those things around me. Hope this helps! 1 skinnygirlwithin reacted to this
skinnygirlwithin 693 Posted June 11, 2014 We are slowing down at work... so i have time on my hands... i have found that i snack during this down time when i am bored... i started to freeze my Water till it just starts to get icy... put in a cup & drink it and chew on the ice ... its really fine ice & not hard on my teeth... Im getting my Water in & still "chewing" something... if i still want something - i go for a walk - to the bathroom another floor in our office building... I try to distract myself for about 15-20 mins.. this seems to help... IF the above doesnt work, then i have some raw veggies, fruit or nuts... (if its time for one of my meals then i skip the above two things and go straight for my snack/meal - but if its between meals... i really try to drink water/ice or distract myself with something non food related) Good luck!!
