2 months post op questions

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I am 2 months post op and have lost about 18 kgs (40 pounds) I'm eating a little more, and seem to be hungry within a few hours after a meal, is this normal? Has my stomach stretched? I'm eating Snacks, all healthy Snacks but still I kinda feel I'm eating more than I should? :/ my bougie size is a 29f, the smallest, surely I haven't stretched it!!

I also eat till I'm stuffed... Is this going to stretch my sleeve? That's my main concern, the stretching. Please help! ????

Eating till you're stuffed can stretch your sleeve. It doesn't matter if what you're eating is healthy or not.

It's recommended to eat small meals every 3-5 hours, so if you're feeling hungry in that time period it doesn't necessarily mean it's because your stomach is bigger. I guess the most important question to be asking yourself is are you actually hungry or is it head hunger you're experiencing? I would really suggest measuring out your portions.. at 2 months out, you should still be satisfied with eating about 1 oz or 1/4 cup of food.

You've done great so far in losing the weight you have.. just stay on track and keep it up!

Why do you eat till you're stuffed? A sleeve's capacity will grow over time with healing, especially noticeable as new as you are. By a year, you should each max capacity according to my NP.

Sleeves won't stretch much as most of the stretchy part of your stomach was removed leaving the muscle. That said, if you constantly over eat, you can and will stretch the part that remains. Add to that the fact that you are still healing and you are asking for trouble. Over eating is dangerous both physically and to your potential weight loss.

Weigh and measure everything to avoid over eating. Stuffing yourself is what got you to this point in the first place, I assume. Change your habits now while you have this awesome opportunity.

Ok thank you both. I mean, it's seriously not a lite of food, 4 or 5 bites at each meal, and I never finish my plate... I can't even finish a boiled egg, a 95g can of tuna takes me a long time and I end up eating only 1/4. I can't even finish a full chicken drumstick, I do half of it... So it's not necessarily overrating, it's just that I get totally stuffed. Maybe my stomach is super small...

Same answer. Don't eat until you are stuffed. :)

I'm a year out and eat about as much (or a bit less) as you are at two months out. No, it's not a lot of food, but if you are stuffed, it's too much.

Well, you said you can't eat an entire boiled egg, not less than half. I can eat an entire scrambled egg, but only a half of a boiled egg. :) Hard Protein fills me up much faster.

I can't eat an entire can of tuna, 4-5 bites fills me up, I can't eat an entire drumstick, but can almost eat an entire wing, no skin.

No LOLs about it. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
