letsdothis2gether 9 Posted June 11, 2014 Yes, that is correct~ I have a $1000 "Co-Pay"! NOT "deductible" that is separate. NO, it does not go towards my maximum out of pocket either. I have been saving our Flex benefit card to use on this. However, that stinks also since we have only been able to contribute $2500 a year towards Medical Flex benefits last year and this year, compared to $5000 previously. Even at that we would run out by the end of July. I'm just curious if any of you have anything similar?
MimIN 19 Posted June 11, 2014 I did and it sucks! Mine was $500 but my policy had a $1500 max so in total my surgery cost $2000.00. I haven't received the bill yet but I have been watching my insurance website closely as claims roll in.
momohime 121 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) I had VSG, but still had to pay $600 up front that wasn't considered a co-pay and didn't count towards my deductible at all. Honestly though, I would have paid more and been happy. Yeah, it sucks.. but it's still so worth it. Edited June 11, 2014 by momohime
jtickle 295 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) If I wouldn't of met my out of pocket with a surgery earlier this year. I would had to pay a 2000 dollar copay to the surgeon and no telling how much to the hospital. Edited June 11, 2014 by jtickle
Jersrose43 837 Posted September 18, 2014 Ha got you all beat $4500 deductible - used on pre-op prep $4500 additional out of pocket went to the hospital. So 9k this year and only can put 5600 in my HSA. OH WELL
sunnkistme 76 Posted September 19, 2014 I thought I officially had the worst BCBS plan ever known, then I see Jersrose 43... My out of pocket is 8500.00 so you win, but I also pay 15% of the monthly premium so that is about 850 a year. I have told my surgeon that this is a once in a lifetime year. I can not pay 8500 again next year.

Jersrose43 837 Posted September 20, 2014 And your 850 is chump change. I pay $117 every pay period to cover myself, hubby 2 kids 26 pay periods. So at near $12,000 a year am very glad I have a job that provides insurance that covered my $42,000 jospital stay, $8000 anesthesia, and $5800 surgeon fee and left me with $3k to pay. All good. rustypickerd 12 Posted September 20, 2014 I pay $289.00 every two weeks for me, my husband and son.
rustypickerd 12 Posted September 20, 2014 Also have to pay separately at work for dental and eye insurance. I'm lucky though, because my only copay for next Fridays surgery is 125. Per day that I'm there
