Any TEXAS sleevers use Dr Stowers

Recommended Posts

I am new and I am waiting on approval for a sleeve from Dr Stowers in Decatur Texas. Just wondering if there's anyone out there that is using him or has used him.

Me! I went to my initial consultation at his office on 3/31 and did the psych eval the same day. I also did my 3 months of medically supervised weight loss that Cigna requires thru his office with a nurse practitioner. My stuff was submitted to insurance on 6/23 and was approved on 7/2. Surgery will be on 8/4.

Hi. My surgery is August 5. I am so nervous. Scared but excited. Where are you coming from? I am in Stephenville. I wish you luck on the 4th. I'll be there on the 4th doing my pre lab and registering.

Omg. Did I say the 4th? I meant the 5th!! I will be there for pre-op at 10:30 on the 4th at the hospital and 1:00 at Dr. Stowers office. Then surgery on the 5th. We will be there together.

I am coming from Wichita Falls, so they have set me up with a hotel room the night of the 4th.

I think my email said LaQuinta. Either way, we'll probably be walking the halls together after surgery!

One part of me is extremely excited. Another part is scared to death. Lol

It takes me awhile to reply back we just sold our house and are staying with friends until we can find something. Their place is way out in a rural area and the internet service is not so great. I wish you lots of luck and success. My name is Jennifer that way in case we see each other you'll know my name.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
