I have been really nervous because I have read so many FB posts from people who were not successful with the sleeve. With my previous failures,,, it is stressing me!!!

It's normal to stress, but stay positive, follow your drs advise and diet plans and you'll do great

... and I know a few who have failed with RNY ... it's a tool, if you expect it to do the job for you, I don't know. I don't think it'll work without you working it. If you do what you are supposed to it should work (I'm still pre-op).

This isn't an easy fix, but rather one that has to be worked on daily for the rest of your life. You can't just decide this summer I'm not going to watch what goes into my mouth and I'll watch after the holidays. I hope this doesn't sound harsh, that's not how it's intended. I just mean to use it for the designed purpose and listen to the surgeon/staff.

Good luck.

I can say that I've personally encountered much more fails in Lapband and the gastric bypass surgeries than in the sleeve. You have to do what feels right for you! Each one of these surgeries have risks. Each one also requires effort and commitment to change as well. I wish you much success on your journey!!!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm only 3 months out and it already takes work!! It takes good choices and self control still but, man, it is so much easier with my sleeve! If you're willing to be co-laborer with your sleeve then you'll do fine.

My mom has had the sleeve for about 2 years and I just recently got RNY. She's had really bad acid reflux and gained weight back. The weight gained was much more of a bad choices kind of thing though. She drinks soda and doesn't ever work out and I highly doubt gets all her Protein in.

That being said, any weight loss surgery could be unsuccessful if you don't do what you're supposed to do. Like someone else said, it's a tool, not a quick fix.

Talk it through with your doctor and he/she should be able to calm your worries. Best of luck!!

Doesn't sound harsh. I'm a researcher so have gone over the professional studies. For 1-3 years there is about 70% body fat loss but between year 3-6 it goes down to 50-57%. Don't get me wrong... I will take that! So, it seems that people go back to old habits. However these rates are MUCH better than no surgery. I guess I will have to really focus after year three. Numbers never lie. I think it is normal to fear failure. I see so many posters that stop posting far out from surgery too... So there is that. I am committed and get the idea of it being a tool,, I think of it like using swim fins:) I have kept up previous weight loss up to 8 years,,, but here I am. Thanks for listening to my craziness. ????????????????

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
