junebuggy2004 9 Posted June 9, 2014 I just had my surgery on Friday and I've not been sleeping well. When will I be able to sleep on my stomach? Right now I'm sleeping on my back propped up with a pillow but it's not exactly good sleep. But sleeping on my stomach or even side hurts and bleeds a bit. I'm trying to do what's best, I just want some sleep.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted June 9, 2014 It got a little better for me each day, but I think it was around two weeks when I didn't have discomfort turning over. It was sore for quite a while, but I still slept on my stomach right away. Now I don't even notice my port when lying down. I'm almost three months post op. 1 junebuggy2004 reacted to this
terrydumont46 1,954 Posted June 10, 2014 I get reflux if I happen to get on my stomach while asleep. but a month or 2 after surgery I was able to sleep over on my tummy. just keep trying and one night you will do it. 1 junebuggy2004 reacted to this
Meredyth 14 Posted June 10, 2014 I'm almost three weeks post-op and was really uncomfortable for the first two weeks, had to sleep propped up in a nest of pillows. I am now sleeping flat on my side with little discomfort.
betty_s 476 Posted June 10, 2014 ugh! this was the worst for me! i couldnt sleep on my stomach, and not even my sides, because i felt like the port was tugging on my stomach. and thats the only way i can fall asleep! i talked to my nurse practitioner, and she recommended Ibuprofen PM. After about 2 weeks, i was able to lay on my side, and some on my stomach, but if i moved the wrong way, it would shoot a little twinge to the area. even at almost 5 weeks post-op, after a long day, or if i worked out too hard, its still a little sore to lay on. I would def try the ibuprofen pm, tho. 1 junebuggy2004 reacted to this
