Sorry folks, not a good teatime subject. I'm really unsure how this should work. Went to loo last week but nothing since. I am on fluids only but keep getting low bowel cramp which suggests some disturbance down there. Has anyone got any suggestions. Will I even go on fluids only. Feel bloaty as if I need to but can't.

PLEASE HELP. Thank you

I feel your anguish... been there many times. I was sleeved in Oct 12, and now (possibly due to having to take co-codomol for other issues) find myself taking dulcolax and dulcoease at least once every week... I know its probably not the best answer, but its what works for me - I've also tried taking just a little bit prune juice... perhaps watered down at this stage in case it is too strong for your sleeve.. Good luck. I think we have all been there at some point

With the drastic alteration of your diet, things are going to be a little different until you return to some semblance of eating. Milk of Magnesia worked wonders for me. I took it daily for a few days just to keep everything moving "normally". I know it has worked for many folks, too.

Of course, contact your medical team for your specific needs.

Hello Selena Hay, thank you for your reply. I think prune juice sounds like the perfect idea. It should kill two birds with one stone and with the added advantage that I love it (especially with vodka and ice). I will behave myself!

PdxMan has just posted whist I was writing this. Think I might try a cocktail!

Thank you both.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
