Atlantagal 1 Posted July 19, 2014 Yes, I am diabetic! Along with high blood pressure those are my motivation for the surgery. My endocrinologist advised me since my pancreas is still producing insulin, he is confident after the surgery I will most likely be off do it! Surgery date 7/23/2014. rayware1 0 Posted December 24, 2014 I am type 2 and had gastric bypass in 2009. I was taking a smorgasbord of both oral and injectables. After surgery I was taken off all diabetic meds. I was so happy. Unfortunatly about a year later it came back and progressed in severity. I am now back on pills and 5 injections a day. My doctor just put me on Jardaince which is supposed to block some sugar absorption. I want to know how frequent is post surgical reluctance of diabetes. athena3127 199 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi I had the gastric bypass and I was taking off all my diabetic medication high blood pressure and high cholesterol before I left the hospital, I was injecting myself 5 times a day this surgery was a Godsend. Good luck to you all. wow that sounds exactly like my mothers experience. Same for her and she had her surgery in May. She also has copd and was on oxygen preop. Post op her condition has improved so much oxygen is only required at night and she might be able to stop using it 100% in the future. Wishing you all the best!
