JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Only a third of my weight is gone and I'm seeing the dreaded turkey neck. (Getting old sux. However, it is better than the alternative.) Does it ever "snap back" after age fifty? Any suggestions for me other than turtlenecks and scarves? JeanZ_RN 378 Posted June 9, 2014 I LOVE the title of this thread! I don't have any answers, but I'm right there with you. And unfortunately I hate the feel of a turtleneck. 3 terrydumont46, JustWatchMe and Mikee57 reacted to this
Teachamy 1,042 Posted June 9, 2014 My mom developed the turkey neck too. (Late 50's, without weight loss) She got a few non-invasive plastic "skin-tightening" procedures. Not sure exactly what it entails, but it did make a big difference! 2 Mikee57 and JustWatchMe reacted to this
gowalking 10,790 Posted June 9, 2014 I've been dealing with this since oh...about a year ago. I hate it and it's the first thing I'm getting fixed. I see my bariatric surgeon next month for a follow up and I'm asking her for a reference for a plastic surgeon. Plus I have a hereditary factor as well. My mom was a gobbler too and not because she lost alot of weight either, but just because that was the way her skin was. I seem to be just like her in that way. I don't wear scarves or turtleneck tops. I just think it brings more attention to my neck instead of hiding it. Truth is, there's no hiding this...I just have to deal with it till I can get it worked on. 5 Mikee57, Debbie3sons, lisacaron and 2 others reacted to this
lisacaron 5,075 Posted June 9, 2014 Plastic surgery advocate here! For me though I don't think there is much hope...since I have a huge muscle there that is not going anywhere fast. I have had this "double" looking chin since I was a skinny little kid, developed the muscle playing woodwind instruments in the Orchestra from the age of 7. You would think oh a muscle great you can tighten it up...yeah still not such an awesome look, if I don't lift my head up in a photo..I end up looking like a old cabbage patch kid. So if the jowls start to droop…let me tell ya I’ll be in the surgeons office weight loss or not. Not all muscle growth is good…lol. 3 JustWatchMe, Mikee57 and Debbie3sons reacted to this
deedadumble 1,033 Posted June 9, 2014 I have this too and I hate it! Getting a neck lift at the end of July along with LBL, breast lift, and arm lift. 2 JustWatchMe and Mikee57 reacted to this
Shelly2221 126 Posted June 9, 2014 I've seen great results from a few of my moms friends getting a neck lift. 2 Mikee57 and JustWatchMe reacted to this

Mikee57 699 Posted June 9, 2014 I am over the 50+ too and have the waddle to wattle and I don't see plastic surgery in my future for I would have to pay for it...so I will have to learn to live with it...that is the least of my worries...I don't do turtlenecks and only scarves in the winter, so it is well worth it when I can look at the rest of me and see the lose elsewhere!!! So if folks look and continue to stare I will just gobble and strut my stuff for them...hehehehehehehehehe!!! 4 JustWatchMe, Debbie3sons, tigerlily14 and 1 other reacted to this

BigGirlPanties 957 Posted June 9, 2014 LOL...the saying goes "when I open my mouth, my mother comes out..." now that I'm losing weight (she was thinner in the later years)...I look in the mirror, and I see my mother... especially the gobble neck! .... ah well, it's all good 2 JustWatchMe and latido reacted to this
Bandista 7,466 Posted June 9, 2014 I'm going to be 53 and working on loving myself, including the lumps and lines. I wouldn't resort to plastic surgery but have been applying a lot of face cream to my décolletage and doing funny mouth exercises in the car. Chin up! 2 Debbie3sons and JustWatchMe reacted to this

Does it ever "snap back" after age fifty? Any suggestions for me other than turtlenecks and scarves? I am almost 64 and just checked , I don't have the gobble neck. I just have excess skin every where else. 1 JustWatchMe reacted to this
Sparklingbeauty53 202 Posted June 10, 2014 I don't know the answer but I am wondering if those expensive firming creams for faces/necks would be worth it? I am using Jergens firming lotion everywhere in case it works but I am thinking something just for faces for my neck??? I don't know. 1 JustWatchMe reacted to this
deedadumble 1,033 Posted June 10, 2014 I used BareMinerals Extra Firming neck cream for a year and didn't see any results.
