I'm meeting with a Gastroenterologist tomorrow to schedule a throat and stomach scope pre-surgery. I've never heard of such a procedure and I'm a little freaked out about it. It sounds like another surgery prior to surgery. I'm chicken. I will do whatever is necessary as I have been chasing this procedure for almost three years.

Hey Jammil0411, I have my scope on Tuesday, what he is looking for is if your stomach has a sickness, forgot what it's called a virus of some kind. If you do it's treated with antibiotics before surgery. It is somewhere on this site.

You'll only be out about 15 min is what my surgeon told me, so you will need someone to take you home after. Good luck

Don't stress,it's a piece of cake. I was a little sleepy the rest of the day but that's it.

Mine is on Tuesday as well!! SOOO nervous ...the only thing keeping me from dwelling on it is the fact that I took the whole day off of work and I plan on taking advantage of the kids being at school and me having no work and going to sit by my friends pool after for the day lol!! GOOD LUCK!!

Don't stress over it, like sleeveless in Seattle said it's a piece of cake. May have a small sore throat but other than that nothing to worry about.

The scope thing was a piece of cake. The hardest part was waiting my turn in the hospital. They gave me the anesthesia, it felt like I blinked my eyes and it was over. I had a little scratchiness in my throat later, but if I hadn't been watching for the scratchiness, I'd have never noticed.

I had to have one before surgery as part of the pre-op requirements. It was super easy. The hardest part was getting the IV. Otherwise I was in and out and I remember my hubby and I even took advantage of having a sitter and went to lunch after....lol

It's not a big deal at all. They'll give you something to knock you out so they can have a look and make sure there are no surprises, (hernias, ulcers, etc). You'll likely wake quickly after the procedure and have no more than a scratchy throat afterwards. I didn't even have that.

When they did mine, they found a small hernia and evidence of reflux that they determined was causing my chronic night time coughing. I never had heart burn and had been being treated for 10 years (unsuccessfully) for asthma. They were then able to put me on the proper medication, (along with fixing the hernia during my sleeve procedure) so now I don't have those symptoms anymore. My EGD was a major blessing!

I just got home from my scope. Gosh all the personal at the hospital were so nice. Fell asleep and woke up back in my room. No discomfort at all, but I do have polyp and hiatal hernia. So will have that taken care of when my surgery is done.

Since I feel great I'm off to the apple store with my daughter. Enjoy your day.

My surgery is the 24th and I have not had to have this done! Now I'm worried they will find something during the procedure. Does anyone know if it is abnormal to NOT have this test?

Ok I dont want to scare anyone. It sounds like you all got to get the one where they put you to sleep. I was not so lucky my doctor did mine in his office while I was wide awake. He put lidocane in both of my nostrils to numb them. Asked me which one I thought was the numbest and proceeded to stick a camera down my nose and throat while a nurse held me up from the back! I will not lie it was HORRIBLE!! No the nose didnt hurt but I could feel it in the back of my throat they kept telling me to swallow!! My eyes and nose were both watering and I was choking!!! The only good thing was I actually got to see the inside of my stomach which was pretty cool and it was over fast!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
