well tomorrow I plan on making chicken stew with the pressure cooker and I put only healthy ingredients chicken cutlets cut up into cubes and chicken broth and veggies. basically I want the meat to come out tender and soft not dry and tough. I think its a healthy addition to any kitchen. I can buy the low quality meats like london broils, pot roast, chicken cutlets the big ones I buy all my meat on sale freeze it for when I need it. Its important I believe to have a good variety of healthy food choices. that includes all the various ways of preparing and cooking meat. I usually steam my veggies that i buy frozen. I stay away from high carb veggies like peas. I usually use spinach, string Beans, or broccoli that is frozen and they usually have them on sale weekly. I go through a lot of veggies for Fiber and regularity. I also drink mainly Water with occasional crystal light flavors. I drink my Snacks using the nutribullet for reasons that I dont want to physically eat more than 3 meals a day. I believe its psychological. I feel that if I drink my vegetable smoothies instead of actually chewing a snack which also counts towards my fluids for the day. I stay away from simple carbs. The only carbs is from occasional greek yogurt that i might have for Breakfast or whole grain whole wheat bread for a deli turkey sandwich for lunch which I usually have only twice a week. I am a firm believer in hot meals for lunch and dinner. I weigh all my meals.

Using the pressure cooker is such a good idea for cooking meats. Also, the rest of your diet looks spot on healthy! Congratulations!

Sounds like you are on a great plan. I do low carb, too. If you want some variety on vegs, look up their net carbs, there are lot more you can buy fresh that will not impact your loss. Beans are great, too, although they do have carbs. A half cup cooked legumes does wonders for you. Great source of Fiber and B Vitamins and easy on the sleeve. Those are carbs well spent.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
