Food Problems

Recommended Posts

I had a dream journey with the band, no surgery problems and my weight loss was text book. However, a year on and I don't know what to do. Except for Breakfast which is. Usually porridge topped with yoghurt and seeds everything else I eat seems to come back. I would say not everything because I am only losing weight weight (and believe me I don't want to lose more) very slowly 5lbs since Christmas. I went back to the surgeon and he took 1cc out it made no difference. I am afraid to take out more because I don't want to put weight on either, and I am not even convinced that this is not my fault. I ask myself did I eat the wrong thing, did I eat too fast? Is it my fault? I can't even manage a starter at a restaurant and alcohol is completely out. Should I just try to live with this, I don't want to be fat again, I am so happy with my body lose skin and all.

Are you overrating at your meals or taking big bites?

You know I mean "overeating". I'm half awake here!

i would say not overheating based on the premise that I lost close on 100lbs. However, I think you do have a mind change when the weight has gone. With me it goes a bit like oh I am normal now, I should be able to eat and drink what I want.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm in the same boat. I don't want to lose more, but it just happens and I tell myself I can eat what I want when I really can't and tend to over do it. That's when I will "un-eat",but I can't keep doing that.

I don't want an unfill either so I will just eat less, smaller bites and drink Protein shakes.

Not sure I was helpful, but you are not alone. ????

it does help, thank you so much. My husband who is normally very helpful and has been my rock thinks I "un- eat" (just love the way you put that) on purpose but that is just not true. Thanks once again.

I am not in your position (only halfway there) but I think you're on to something with the mindset dilemma. I did wonder if there could be some kind of food sensitivity issue. Wheat allergies are rampant here and can cause all sorts of gastrointestinal problems. If it's in your system it can cause reflux for days so there could be some kind of vicious cycle going on. The yogurt would be soothing. Just a thought, may not be it at all but worth throwing into the mix....

Vomiting up your food is not normal with a band. I'd call my bariatric practice and have them check for a band slip.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
