Deviled ham? Other meats during phase 2?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am 10 days post-op and have just now moved into the purée part of the diet. Have any of you had/tried deviled ham in this phase? My husband says he doesn't think it is a good idea due to the fat content, but I am craving meat Protein all the time.

I figure I should worry about high fat content later on when I can eat more things.

If you were able to incorporate meat or fish into your phase 2 of your diet, I would love to hear how you did it.

Thanks.

I think your husband is correct. Most plans do not allow high fat food, especially that early.

If I were you I would not eat that because high fat foods can make you sick.

Your husband is correct that you shouldn't be eating that at all.

First of all you should be eating chicken, turkey, fish and eggs at this stage no beef or pork yet.

Phase 2 if I remember is puréed foods or maybe soft foods. Your stomach or pouch can not handle anything else then that.

If you check with your nutritionist I can almost guarantee that that's what they tell you.

If you got a instructional book read it carefully to know what to eat at each stage of the program if you want to be successful.

I ate canned chicken and tuna with a bit of light miracle whip. Put it in a mini food processor, so it was pureed and smooth. meat Protein that is on most plans. eggs were also a go to food during this stage.

All the above answers are correct according to my diet plan - fat and sugar are off the list and can cause a serious side effect called "dumping". In addition, I was not allowed red meat (ham, pork, beef, lamb) until recently (I am 3 months out).

Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, fish and chicken are the go-to foods for now. We're limited because our new digestive tract is still healing - don't mess up your surgery over a can of deviled ham after all you've gone through.

I tried some lean beef today... two bites and that was it. Came back up. Soooo I would definitely stick to the tuna and chicken. I still haven't tried chicken yet but I snack on tuna all day. :)

I did well on tuna salad with light mayo and egg beaters. pureed chicken was good too. i agree with everyone else that you should stay away from any other meat until you heal more.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
