iamblessed1225 61 Posted June 7, 2014 I've asked before but what fruits are we allowed to eat I've looked on my packet not seeing anything about fruit? ?
LumpySpacePrincess 594 Posted June 7, 2014 How far out are you? If you're more than a month, then any fruit is probably OK, but I'd stick to lower sugar fruits such as apple, berries or pears. I'd avoid bananas and pineapple since they have a huge amount of sugar.
jenpez 113 Posted June 8, 2014 I could eat fresh raspberries from quite early on. 10 at a time was and still is my limit. I can also eat about 3 largish strawberries or a tablespoon or so of blueberries. I could not eat apples until I was about 8 months out. Watermelon was ok. I started with about 50gm/2oz. I can now eat about 100 gm. Have not tried bananas yet. Have a bit of a problem with pears because I only like them crunchy! Mandarins and oranges are ok for me too. It's all trial and error really. BryBro63 410 Posted June 9, 2014 I was told to stay away from dried fruits because of their condensed high sugar content. But depending on how far out you are from your surgery, you should be careful about the skin of fruits like apples, pears, etc...if you're very early out of surgery, I'm told this could get caught in the staples. Be sure to chew or blend thoroughly. If you're at least 3 to 4 months out, you should be fully healed and can have just about any fruit, but just keep track of the calories and the carbs.
