Looking for July Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I don't know. I am hoping somebody can tell me. Otherwise I will see my doctor Tuesday afternoon and you can bet I will have a list of questions for him.

The good thing is that this is just the first stage of my post surgery. I keep telling myself that but I don't have a lot of patience. :)

There is a butter flavor you can get in the extract section at the grocery store (I saw it used for a cinnamon roll flavored Protein shake).

Pulling at the incision site, I sometimes feel like the tissue underneath is ripping when I lean forward. Is this just a part of the healing process?

MB40buf - I'm going to reply to your questions below but everyone take this with a grain of salt - seems like all doctors are different so answers I have gathered may be different than what your treatment team would say.

I think I have hit the 3 week plateau/1 pound weight gain, but I wanted to double check I have my numbers on things all right. I tried to post this as it's own thread but did not like the responses I got. Hopefully, July sleeveers can be more helpful.

Is it 60-80 grams of Protein a day?
yes, the bottom limit i heard was minimum of 60. I've never actually had anyone specify an upper limit

64oz of Water but do Protein shakes count towards that number ?
minimum of 64 oz of liquids, with all liquids counting towards that number

1000-1200 calories a day? (I am only 4' 10")
I haven't had a calorie limit specified. I'd love to know if there's a target i should be aiming for...

Is there a fat, carbs, to Protein ratio or anything? Using my fitness pal to track my calories, carbs, protein, fat . . .
I'm using lose-it to track mine, and again i haven't had any sort of ratio promoted by my treatment team.

Is their a maximum amount of carbs/sugar per Protein shake? I had to stop Bariatric fusion because I could not take it post surgery.
no idea

30 minutes no liquids before eating and 45 minutes post eating?
my treatment team had it as 15/15 or sometimes they say 15/30

No more than 4oz of Protein Shake or protein Soup at a time to avoid stretching stomach?
that sounds like a good barometer, though i dont recall hearing it specifically

At least 30 minutes of cardio a day?
my treatment team wants 20-30 minutes of walking / day. The treatment team specifically didn't mention strength training at all however a consultant recommended using resistance bands and gave me a handout with how-to with the resistance bands.

Any certain amount of fruits or vegetables?
I don't think we are supposed to eat fruits or vegetables yet. not until we get to something like week 6 (or whatever week we return to eating normal foods)

Anyone have any tips?
this one i need to follow better myself. listen to your stomach when its full it tells you (now mine does, anyway), trying to fit the last of the portion on your plate/in your bowl or cup is counterproductive. portions are small and your mind might think that's not enough but when your tummy says enough even before you are half through that tiny portion, just believe it and let it be if you can.

Just discouraged! I am just about to get below 200 and have lost about 30 pounds since surgery so being stuck is playing a mental game.

I'm stuck too for about 10 days now and i'm logging what i'm eating and trying to get the exercise in and, like you, the stall is making me question everything. i think we will get past it. Just lets have patience and not let the stall make us go off book with what we're doing

I was sleeved 7/14, which means that including preop I have been eating liquids and small portions of soft, low carb foods for over a month. I have to say, I'm missing eating. Obviously I was addicted to it, which led to my situation. But I'm having a hard time adjusting to how much I want to eat versus how much I should eat. Seeing just a few tablespoons fills me up physically but not mentally. Anyone feeling a little like this?

yes, i'm definitely feeling the huge difference between what my brain thinks is a portion vs what my new stomach can hack as a portion. i can be done eating and full to bursting with the pressure full on and still be thinking about food.

Hey everyone! So I had my surgery on July 25 and so far I'm down 34 lbs since preop diet! But I've hit a stall! I know it's probably the dreaded 3rd week stall but I'm wondering how some of you have gotten over it! I started at 336 and I'm currently at 302! I'm getting my Water in and most days I'm between 50-60 g of Protein, and I'm getting about 500-600 calories a day! Should I be trying to up my calories? I'm not exercising yet other thank walking a bit! And suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Hope everyone is doing great!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
