Hi! This is my first time posting! I was sleeved May 28 and I am still on the 2 week post-op liquid diet. I am dying to be more active and was wondering if anyone had tempted going to the gym around the same surgery date as me? Thanks :)

I was cleared for walking immediately - there was no limit on walking. I got up to 3 miles fairly quickly and it felt good to move.

I was cleared for gym workouts at 8 weeks - elliptical and treadmill (no lifting).

At 12 weeks I had no restriction on activity.

Remember, you just had major surgery - be kind to your body.

Haha well it was worth a shot! I was told not to even get on a treadmill or anything for 2 weeks after surgery, but this coming Wednesday will be week 3! I was hoping to get in some physical activity before I leave for vacation June 28.

I was sleeved in May 28th as well, and my surgeon was a bit more lenient/vague. He basically said if doesn't hurt, do it. Frankly, I'm gonna be a little more conservative, and wait until at least 10 weeks before I start lifting (even though that's what I wanna do most!). Though at this point, I'm so weak from the calorie deficet and get winded from just walking up the stairs, I dunno how I could do the gym.

My surgery was 5/28 as well. I haven't done any major working out, but I do go to the track everyday an walk a mile. I have been doing that since my second day home from hospital. As soon as my incisions are all the way healed I will be doing light weights an boot camp. I really DONT want that flabby saggy arm skin or any where! :(

Don't laugh but I got a wii u fit with the balance board and it works me out real good since I got this a week and a half ago I have lost three pounds. You can run hula hoop yoga, balance workouts. I am hoping this will help me to build up my endurance to start going outside and walk. And hopefully one day run a 5k that is my dream.

I'm limited to walking and I'm getting bored with it. My doctor does not clear more until about 4 - 6 weeks post. I will see him 5 weeks post and hope to be cleared then. I have a mini elliptical at home and to be honest, I've very slowly used it, but that was a decision I made for myself. I advise listening to your doc.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
