I had my sleeve surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Tuesday. No pain pills needed. I have a desk job and had no problems...not tired or anything and this was after a 5 day hospital stay due to complications from my band that I had removed a month prior. I had alot of swelling and could not swallow a sip of Water..so they would not let me leave until I could. But 3 days home and I was ready to go back to work

it really depends on the job, I don't have a desk job but my job involves a lot of sitting around doing nothing. I had 2 weeks off and was cleared to go back and wish I would have taken another week off to recuperate more.

I had my surgery on June 4th, and will be going back to my desk job on the 13th. If I had more energy I would have went sooner. I have been off pain meds since 2 days after surgery.

I was given 6 weeks off. I went back to work at 3 weeks. I was going nuts sitting at home. I could have went back at 1 week. I felt fine. Everyone is different though.

My work at the time was mean - I had surgery on a Tuesday and had to be available by phone and email starting Thursday. I was back in the office full time (plus some) starting the following Monday.

It worked though - I was tired, but overall felt good.

Everyone is different, that's for sure!

I'm having surgery on 7/1, and will be back 7/7. I plan on working from home 7/2 & 7/3 and through the weekend if I can. Financially I can't afford to really take much more off.

Wow good luck and take good care of yourself ... Hope you are able to get a few days off at least 4. Health is first...

I also have a desk job, but I am the manager and the job is very stressful. I was initially given 2 weeks off and I tried to work from home the 3rd week, but I found I just did not have 8 strong hours per day. After trying to work at home for 3 days, I took another 5 days off. I had zero pain after surgery and never took any pain medication after I left the hospital. I was very weak and tired even though I am normally a high energy person.

Best of luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
