CA - ONTARIO, CHINO (Discontinued)

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to give an update. Surgery went well, approx. 2 hours. I had to wait a long time in recovery until my room was ready. The pain is not bad at all. The dry mouth is pretty bad. Luckily I followed suggestions and brought dry mouth rinse. Hopefully I will be able to drive by the time of our next meeting.

Hi Jan!!!

Thanks for updating us so soon. So glad to hear you're doing well. And---congratulations! Take it slow and I hope you're feeling well enough to join us on Nov 1.

Sherry

Hello! It sounds like the weather tomorrow will be pretty bad with possibility of snow so I will probably not make it.

Still doing well two weeks post surgery, just trying to get all that protein! That is a little hard, but next week I can move on to mashed foods so that will make it easier.

Always room for you, Marci! Drive carefully with this rain. I think we'll have a more comfortable-sized crowd this month too. Hope you can make it.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your update! Been thinking about you. Glad to hear you're doing well, and totally "normal" with struggling to get in all the Protein and water--our biggest challenge right at first. I totally understand--we'll miss you, but I'm glad you won't be out there on the roads dealing with a snow & ice! Hope to see you in December. Keep taking care, and enjoy those mashies. . .

Hi Debbie3sons, thx for coming! Great to meet you! Wish I could have spent more time talking with you. It's always kinda crazy right at the end. Hope you can make it again next month--Dec 6. Try to come early so we can talk before group starts. Take care.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
