Is there anyone out there that started off with already thin diffused hair that you can see your scalp and then had WLS????

If so I want to know if the surgery made it a lot worse?? Prob a dumb question.

I had pretty thin hair to begin with that you could could see my scalp more than most by my part. Since WLS it has gotten much worse. ( I am 4.5 months out) I will say I have discovered toppix and it has made the unsightly loss more manageable personally. Despite the great weight loss results, losing my hair in this much quantity hasn't done wonders for my self esteem, so I am so glad someone on here told me about this awesome product.

I was thinning on top...yes, it's thinner now. I started losing at 2 months and it's continued to now, 6 months.

I love the Toppik product as well - I use it every day. Look it up - it really does work how the videos show it does. It even fooled my hair dresser. I had to go with a short cut to hide some of the loss.

I will say - I wouldn't 2nd guess my decision to the have surgery, even now, knowing how much hair I've lost. It's shocking and it sucks, but I'll take it. I'm so much better off today.

I have posted on this topic MANY times. I had VERY thin hair for years. In my profile pic I was already rocking the Topik hair fibers. Post op yes, things got a lot worse. ( I have several things working against me in regards to hair loss) All of my post op pics are of me wearing a wig. Yes, I went the full wig route. It wasn't so much of a choice but necessity. Anyway, I took a while to adjust to it mentally because it is a hard thing. But I will tell you I would rather have the body I am working on now than the hair I had then. ( and the style is WAY cuter than my real hair was!)

Make sure you're getting 70-100 grams of Protein daily. Your body can only absorb 25 grams of protein in one sitting. This is where many people fail in getting enough protein. They think if they drink two bottles of Protein Drinks that have 60 grams each that they are getting their protein in. NOT TRUE!

The second most common symptom of protein deficiency is Hair loss.< /p>

Also, my hair dresser swears by the Vitamin, Biotin to strengthen hair. It can be found at any drug store.

Thank you for you reply , though could you tell me why a full wig? Did you go bald or was your hair just really thin? I really am trying to prepare myself best I can on what to expect. Thanks and congrats on your success

Oh dear.... My hair fell out... If you have thinner hair will be worse... Mine usually top half...was sleeved last sept. Awful...BUT its coming in better than ever, about half inch long but the long part from pre surgery looks like chemo hair... So wig it is for now. It does come back. This hair fallout is unique to this type of surgery, period. Whoever says its Protein or the like is full of it, your hair cycle stops and rushes to the fall out stage...

It will come back

It wouldn't hurt. I asked my surgeon and he said it's perfectly fine so you might want to ask yours. My hair is already thick but in the last 2 weeks it has gotten thicker. Not exactly what I wanted but it's better than the alternative!

Good luck with your surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
