Anyone else have a tween girl?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting sleeved in ten days and I have a ten year old daughter who is pretty upset that I'm doing this. Part of it might be because she's anxious by nature, but it also might be because she's already overweight, and may be wondering what this means for her, esp in terms of what we eat in the house and whether eating meals together will still be any fun. Would love any advice about how you handled things with your kids, esp girls in those very vulnerable tween/early teen years.

My oldest two are 12 boy & 10 girl . They where very upset about me having to surgery . They where worried about me . And they wanted me to stay fluffy as they called it. Lol. They really didn't understand and now that I'm 5 days post surgery they still don't . I just had to explain to them that I need to feel better & be healthier for them . So I can do a lot more with them .

Thanks for writing back. I'm glad I'm not alone. My daughter also likes me "cuddly."

i also have a tween daughter who is worried about me. she is rail thin and keeps saying she doesn't want me to change...

if only she REALLY knew that i didn't prefer to sit on the sidelines and take the pictures all the time! i can't wait to 'get in the game' and start enjoying DOING things with both my kids but cannot at all at my size.

my mom told me that she made a comment at their home about something bad happening to me at surgery. i've been spending a lot of time talking with her about it and trying to calm her. i think it's making me more anxious!

I have a 13 year old and 10 year old. My 13 is a girl and she is very upset also. She too is overweight and I think that's why. She's getting better about it now. I go in On Monday , and I think she's accepting that this is what I'm doing. My 10 year old is a boy, and he's fine with it. I didn't go into as much detail with him. I just told him I'm having surgery for my belly. I think they both know that this will be a good thing for all of us. I told them we can do more bike rides together and jogging at the beach with the dogs etc. They liked that. Someone in here have me a good idea that I will pass along , tell your kids when you reach a certain goal that the family can be rewarded with a little get away or a day at the mall , something to make them feel part of the new adventure . Good luck to you
