My doctor says its because of pain meds. We are told to wait 1 week.

Mine says because of the meds, too. At my one week post op they cleared me to drive after being sure I was no longer taking them.

As long as you take the pain meds you can't drive.

When you are off of them then you will get the okay to drive again.

I would say at least a week after surgery.

My surgeon said he doesn't recommend it because of the pain medications yes but also because it causes pulling on your incisions looking over your shoulder and such and potentially puts others in danger because if we are in pain we may not be 100% when we drive...hope that made sense. But my doctor really emphasizes how important recovery is and what can happen internally if we do not follow our directions for recovery. But complications can arise regardless...

I was told I could drive once I was 48 hours off pain meds. I drove 6 days after my surgery, just a mile to the store and back and it was horrible uncomfortable. Drove again at day 8 and I was still uncomfortable but I could function.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
