I searched the forum and see that I am not the only one with an aching tail bone! What is the deal? It is so painful and just seems to get progressively worse. I am 1 1/2 years out, lost 155lbs. I haven't fallen or hit the bone...it just hurts. Anyone else? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I actually have a couple of friends that hurt their tailbone when they were younger and have an on and off issue with it. You may have lost so much "padding" that it is now reacting to where and how you are sitting. I know it can be very painful! Hope you find relief somehow!

Welcome to the "bony butt" club. I'm one of those who has no cushion, just bone. Hurts to sit on the floor or to ride a bike.

Nuthin u can do cept get a padded bike seat or use a cushion. Doubt if u want to add fat back to ur butt, so it's really ur only choices.

Good luck!

Wondered if anyone might take a look at this again....MY butt hurts so much. I traveled overseas, in coach, and was so miserable I had to pace the aisles the whole time!

Anyone else have this experience?

Any recommendations for getting it to heal?

Any recommendations for special pillows?

THanks

The only thing I can suggest is a "doughnut" pillow. I had to take the stress off my bottom after delivering a 10 lb. baby boy, and experienced tail pain, so I think I know what you are talking about. A "doughnut" pillow is shaped like a doughnut, a pillow with a large hole in the middle. (Shaped like an old life preserver) You sit with the sore area not touching the pillow. Where to get one? Maybe at a surgical supply store. Some are inflatable and not expensive. You can probably find many different kinds, including memory foam ones.

Check with ur doc u might have a polinyduel cyst. Might not be spelled rightn but its a cyst on the tail bone, it hurt like hell, it was hot to touch & had to be surgically removed. Good luck.

I find I am occasionally uncomfortable since losing some weight, what I find is I tend to slouch. Maybe pay attention to your posture, we've been sitting on a lot of fat for years, now have to pay attention to those little details that lean people take for granted. Good Luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
