Hi all, new to this so apologizing ahead of time if this is similar to a previously answered question.

One week post op gastric sleeve surgery here. I'm having a huge problem with the chewable Calcium citrate! The taste, texture and gritiness is making me phsycially ill, to the point where I throw up. I found a petite form of the NON CHEWABLE made by citrical and it says can be absorbed with or without food. I'm wondering if anyone has tried them as an alternative? I've left a message with my surgeon and nutritionist and thought I'd post here while I wait for a call back :)

Bariatric Advantage makes a wonderful coffee, chocolate, and caramel flavored chewie that is pretty good. Unless, of course, that is the kind you are having issues with.

I have tried chocolate "creamy bites" and the orange and cherry tablet forms by Celebrate Vitamins. They don't affect my stomach at all, which is great, getting them down is the problem and I'm just at my wits end.

I use a liquid calcium citrate by Wellesse. It has Calcium and Vitamin D and tastes like a orange creamsicle. <3

My NUT and I were only able to find it at Walmart though. It comes in a pinkish-purple bottle. Hope this helps :-)

I also use the Wellesse liquid. I buy mine from Amazon. I think it is more palatable refrigerated. You can also blend it in with a fruit-flavor type Protein Shake or dilute it with some light juice.< /p>

I used the Citracal Petites for a while but I was struggling to swallow even those, and I'm almost a year out. Nothing else really gives me trouble but big pills like that (yes even "petites" Calcium are bigger than most other pills) just don't work for me anymore.

Sure, if you're not having any problem swallowing tablets, the Citracal PETITES calcium citrate +D tablets are fine, but be sure you read the label because they are fewer mg per tablet than the regular size Citracal. I like them too because they are much easier to swallow than those bigger ones. Even though they say you can take them with or without food, my surgeon says they are BEST absorbed WITH food. But like so many things, there's a lot of differing opinions about that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
