BryBro63 410 Posted June 5, 2014 I was sent home with a pain med prescription..I used the pain meds for 3 days, and didn't need anything after that, including any over-the-counter pain meds. 1 Gr8fulMiniMe reacted to this
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted June 5, 2014 I'm surprised about the Advil. Most surgeons say NO Advil. I never needed pain meds after surgery, so if you're feeling good, then you don't need it.
bmweeks 1 Posted June 6, 2014 Advil upsets the stomach lining so this is sulu reprising to hear. I was told not to take that, aspirin or ibuprofen at all prior to f after the surgery. Tylenol only. And the walking helped more than any pain medication.
Mistyjo 4 Posted June 6, 2014 I'm 5 days out . My doctor gave me liquid hydrocodone. And told me to take children's Motrin with it . He said that it would help with the pain . And it has help me . But I do know a lot of people say there doctor said not to take it. So I really don't know.
sa1976 221 Posted June 7, 2014 I am a nurse. I have taken care of many patients who have the surgery we always tell them no Aspirin and no Advil. It puts you at risk for bleeding. 1 OGmom3122 reacted to this
OGmom3122 7 Posted June 7, 2014 I agree with sa1976. Motrin can cause stomach bleeding. And with those staples internal your asking for problems. I'm also in nursing and I was advised against it. Even weeks after my surgery. I'm 9 weeks out and have lost 40 pounds.
