incision pain 7 weeks out

Recommended Posts

I am having some pain and swelling in 2 of My incisions. I never had any pain prior but now they are really sore. I do notice a couple of stitches coming out of both of these incisions than either haven't dissolved or aren't going to.

I don't think it's bad enough to go to the doctor so I thought I would test all of you experts :). Anyone else experienced this?

Sorry for the gross photo! But it may help :) plus maybe some can see what seven week incisions look like. :)

That's a long time to have redness.... I had sutures poking out up to 2 wks and I read to tug them and see if they would come out and if they didn't to pull them tight and cut them close to skin so that's what I did! I told the PA and she said that was exactly what she would have done!

That is very red for 7 weeks! Mine were completely heeled by 2 weeks!

I know everyone is different. But I think u should ask your doc to look.

That's kind of what worries me. I Had a friend who had an appendectomy one week before my surgery and her scars are completely healed, you can't even see them.

Just sent an email to the surgeons office

I have been having a weird pain in/on (?) one of my suture scars? This is almost a year out? Almost feels like a slight burn?

My incision took about that long to heal. It even leaked Fluid for about the last 2.5 weeks. I had no infection. I think it was a stitch. Dr said to just continue to put peroxide on it so thats what I did. It was a pain in the butt but Ive seen worse!!

Mine are keloid scars at 7 weeks. They get itchy and sometimes sting but it's the way my skin goes after any op. :( I'd be a bit concerned about yours though, there is a lot of redness beyond the scar line which usually means an infection. Try an anti bacterial cream or hydrogen peroxide for a few days. Go see a doctor if still red, that'd be my advice. Hope they get better soon.

Has anyone out there got keloid scarring skin too? Sux!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
