I am finally feeling human again. The pain is still there but manageable with the pain medication and I'm starting to be able to keep foods down.

Is anyone finding any humor in this?

I call my banded stomach SP - full name Sensitive Pouch Romajin Stamos without the Stamos.

I ask her, what's the matter SP? Those 2 teaspoons of sugar free Jello won't satisfy the princess for an hour?

My coworker asked me if SP would like a cheese cube or would that be too much for her highness.

I can just picture her on a pink pillow puffing out her lower lip.

Should I cut down on the narcotics??

LOL! Narcotics -- use em while you got em.

So I had my first follow up and all is looking good. I'm still very swollen but healing nicely. We watched that Fluid flow into my pouch and it had a nice resistance. The pain is strictly located by the port with no signs of infection at the incision sites. So basically I just need more time to heal. My doctor is very pleased!

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I have surgery June 3rd as well and as you did had problems swallowing. Unfortunately, to the extent that I was hospitalized for 3 days and nights for dehydration. My stoma really swelled up post op and nothing was getting through. They also had me on steroid anti-inflammatory meds for the swelling. I was only allowed ice chips for most of the time I was there. I am home and back to work now and feeling good finally. I still get tired easily and have some pain towards the end of the day near the port site, but it is manageable.

Hang in there and wishing you success!

I've been getting soooo tired as well! I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow to see if this is normal. Good luck too!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
