Lets talk about shoes!

Recommended Posts

Just a question about shoes. Did you lose shoe sizes after weight loss and were you able to wear different kind of shoes now that you weren't able to prior to surgery? I really want to start wearing wedges and heels but my feet, ankles and knees hurt terribly with any shoes higher than 1-2inches.

Yes! I was a 7 1/2 - 8 before surgery, and now I am a 6 1/2-7. I bought my first pair of platform pumps several months ago, and I am able to walk in them with no problems.

my feet are thinner...I've had to buckle them up tighter; etc...but I haven't shrunk in actual size...

I can't walk in heels anymore because of my knees... wish I could

Huge change! I went from a 9 wide to an 8 or 8 1/2 and I can wear heels! I bought a pair of beautiful high heeled boots and wore them all winter. Now I am wearing heels 2 - 3 inch heels, platform sandals and wedges daily. It's what 120 less lbs does! My knees and ankles were awful before and I had to wear orthotics. No more!

I was a 12w when I started loosing weight and now I'm down to about a standard 11. I'm only 3 months out but I was thrilled about this part. It was always really hard to find shoes. The only thing that sucks is that a lot of the shoes I did have no longer fit, but at least I get to buy some new ones. :)

Wow, didn't even think about the possible size change... I can't wait to feel comfortable walking in heels and wedges but I guess I shouldn't buy any shoes until I lose more weight!

Thanks for the replies ladies. I currently wear a size 8 -8/12 in shoes depending on the style and a 9-10 in sandles and wedges due to my feet being so wide. I can't wear standard size boots becasue I have 18" calves, they arent even flabby. I have pretty muscular legs with barely any jiggle. Sigh, I cant wait until I get a surgery date.

I want from a 6 1/2 to a 4 1/2 (kids) or 5 women's depending on the shoe.. I can wear heals as well but not like 6 inches or anything but I have been known to sport 4 to 4 1/2 inch!!!

I went from a six wide (when I could find them) to a five normal. I can wear kids 4s too and bought sperry topsiders in the kids department for 50.00 cheaper than the exact same shoes in the womens dept.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
