Anyone have BCBS insurance?

Recommended Posts

This month is my 2 appointment and I also am schedule for my psy eval. I know the time will pass fast and it will prepare me mentally for it. I just hope the approval comes back in time for scheduling, considering it will be right around the holidays. also, these appointments and series of things I need to get done to get approved, will help me get closer to meeting my deductible.

I didn't know that my co-pays don't count towards my deductible.

I have Blue Cross Federal. It paid well and I only had to do 3 months before my surgery.

I too have BCBS Federal and am currently getting my 3 month of doctor suprvised visits before submitting my paperwork to the insurance. How long after the paperwork was submitted did you get the approval?

Did you have to show 1 yr of failed weight loss attempts? If so, how did you show that?

thanks!

I have fed BCBS. 3 months with a NUT, physc eval, proof of weight 2 years before(2012 and 2013) and dr requirements of EGD and cardiac consult, and some blood lab results. So far, out if pocket about $500 which included my $350 deductible. Not sure what my surgery will cost me once the ins pays what they contracted with the hospital and drs.

My three months started towards the end of August and I had my surgery December 5. I really didn't have a year of failed weight loss but my doctor had prescribed fentermine on two occassions over a one year period.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
