My BMI is 42 which qualifies me automatically for the sleeve. My insurance requires a BMI of 35-40 to have an underlying health condition related to being overweight. I don't really have any other health problems. What I'm wondering is if I loose weight during my required 6 month diet/exercise program and get below 40 will my insurance deny me?

Why don't you ask your insurance?

You should ask your doctor's office, but my doctor's office said that they use the BMI from when you first came in, especially if the insurance or physician's practice requires that you lose weight before surgery.

right, ask your doctor or insurance....but in most cases, they used the BMI at the beginning of the pre-op ritual for the qualification for insurance, since that is what got you to this stage... but it's always best to check with the professionals on that...just to be covered....
