Nuts--I eat 28 almonds, or 24 cashews

Quest bars--I eat 1/2 of one

sugar free popsicles--I eat 1-2

WW string cheese--I usually eat 2

yogurt--Kinda sick of it right now, but I tend to eat Dannon Light and Fit Greek

Veggies and hummus

And I consider coffee with cream a meal! (JK--but I do enjoy it and always log it in MFP)

Enjoy eating again! GO SLOW! :)

With meal limits of about 3 ounces, all eating seems like Snacks. Meals during the day, seem tedious and take an inordinate amount of time to prepare. They are kind of a nuisance, but make adapting to such a small meal less difficult.

However, my evening and late night TV watching still encourages old habits of springing up during commercials for a snack. I try to save enough calories during the day so I can accommodate the snacking urges with some high Protein, easy to eat Snacks. Turkey Jerky is one of those snack. Measure out an ounce (DON't eat from the bag) and nibble away. Takes awhile to eat and chew and adds about 15g of Protein. Another is almonds. Or string cheese. Whatever it is, never eat from the bag or package. You won't be able to control the portion. Measure or count a serving and put it in a small dish and put the bag BACK. You'll find other snacks as you progress. I just try to make everything I eat a kind of "protein first" type of thing. Enjoy. ;)

Nuts may not be something you can have just yet... but almonds are a staple in my life now.

One snack I make are parmesan chips ... I spray a baking sheet (or use parchment paper) put small piles of shredded parmesan (in bag, or freshly grated not in green container) and pat them down a bit...they don't spread much... bake for about 8 minutes at 350... I top with salsa... I put them on a plate, top them and sit down and eat them slowly and enjoy the bit of crunch and savory taste... you can use them for your hummus and other items like that as well as just plain, if you like...

They are an easy "go to" by making up a batch to have on hand... as stated above... bag up individual servings for yourself, you will be grateful you did in the long run!

@MFoster9812

My therapist is an addiction counselor and she had a RNY about 10 years ago...so this is something she does for treats... I have even put on a bit of mozzarella and Tomato sauce...mini pizzas....etc... you will find TONS of things to top it with ...and a few fill you up nicely for a snack...good luck to you

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
