Breaking the pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Need some help here. I've been on the liquid diet for 13 days and lost 7kg, (close to 14lb) which my surgeon is really happy about. I've found it really hard and having constant cravings but have kept my self-control up till now. However I'm struggling, feeling that I am going to snap any minute and go buy a burger or something that I will not be able to have post-op (will be able to eat maybe part of a burger after a few months). I still have a week till the operation. If I snap one week out will it undo all my work or can I make it up still?

Really struggling for the self-discipline, please share your thoughts....

Thanks,

Firefly

I'm right with you!! I have surgery on Thursday and tonight the cravings are the worst!! I've had no issues the past two weeks but tonight my stomach was growling terribly and the thought of another shake would make me ill. I want so bad to have the last meal before surgery be something tastey and satisfying but I've worked this far and in no way do I want to mess up surgery risks -- so I had some chicken broth and black cherry Jello.

Hang in there, drink some Water and think about what the future holds for you!

You know though, if you give in to your weakness now, I think it will be easier for you to do it again later... atleast that's how I feel and why I'm suffering thru it now -- the reward of being able to say no now, I think will help me to keep making better food decisions later.

Thanks Calimomof3. My thoughts though are that I would rather have a blow out now and eat a burger or a something a week out than to go ballistic in a few days and eat a whole pizza. The shakes are now making me want to be sick regardless of the flavour.

Really struggling here. This is the hardest test of willpower and I'm not sure I can keep it up
