Congratulations....it may be (seem) like a long journey...but it will be worth it... you are so lucky you are taking control of this while you are still young... this will help with the loose skin and tone, for sure!

I wish I had done this YEARS ago myself...

Good luck to you...

This is about you, so don't worry about what people say. This is your life and you can always make new friends. Good luck, I am thankful to have finally had this surgery and feel good about myself.

Wow... sorry to hear you are getting that B.S. Some people are so judgemental. It's ignorance really. It is NOT easy. It's the most effective *long term* treatment out there for obesity. Congratulations to you for going for it!

YOU need to be the informed one...many people don't realize that it is still WORK, and this is just a tool.

Obesity is a disease...it is documented as such since June 2013, which shows how we have progressed :(

If someone hasn't lived your life, they don't know what you have gone thru... so just take their "opinions" and move on... you can do this for YOU!!!

first step is having the surgery. the skin removal comes a while from now. from what I understand the easiest way of getting insurances to pay for it is to have all the rashes and stuff documented. the one problem I have with that is I haven't had any since surgery. good luck on surgery and fast healing to you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
