ShaDiva 2 Posted June 4, 2014 Breakfast is where I always try getting in my Protein Shake or smoothie. I've noticed that if I don't get it in for breakfast then I always end up short on Protein for the day.
Baconville 578 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I like TVP, Textured Vegetable Protein, for breakfast. You find it in the baking isle of most larger grocery stores. I boil 1/3 cup in 1 cup of Water. When the water has boiled away, I add 1/4 cup of skim milk. At this point you can add anything you want. Fresh fruit, cinnamon, sugar free vanilla Syrup, Truvia, are all things I have added. It has 18 grams of protein, very low in sugars, very filling, and it stays with you. Takes about 15 minutes to make, but worth it for me. Baconville 578 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) For a faster breakfast I like Greek Yogurt with a Tablespoon of ground flax seed. I like Dannon Lite & Fit. 13 grams of Protein, low in sugar. Edited June 15, 2014 by Baconville

Baconville 578 Posted June 15, 2014 Oatmeal or cream of wheat with fruit and nuts. I like banana walnut or apple almond. My NUT told me no oatmeal or cream of wheat (after the pureed stage). No Protein, and every meal needs to have at least 10 grams. If you can add Protein Powder to it you might make it work and some use Protein Shakes to make it, but I didn't like that. It is why I was so happy to find out about the TVP.

Baconville 578 Posted June 21, 2014 My NUT told me to add nuts for Protein. I'm not allowed to have Protein shakes or supplements so it shows how different everyone's plans are. You are absolutely correct. My clinic encourages keeping one shake a day for life. They caution against nuts because they are high in fat and calories. So many different plans!
