Getting a hold of Dr. Ramos Kelly

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I am 100% sure I am ready to start my vsg journey. Though I am looking to actually schedule my surgery in March of 2015 due to PTO reasons, I am trying to get in contact with Dr. Ramos Kelly's office. I have heard great things about his practice and would like to book with his office directly, or so I've read I should, but cannot figure out how. I submitted the info request on www.wlsclinic.com and sent an email to wlsclinic@outlook.com, but haven't received a reply. I have also noticed there were many many reviews on him prior to 2014 but not a whole lot during 2014.....should that concern me?

Yea he has been dropped from a few hospitals and by a few coordinating companies.  I heard some of the companies leave him on their website and do a bait and switch kinda thing. They steer you to another surgeon. That said, there are a lot of rumors going around about what is going on.  None of them good or acceptable when looking for  surgeon.  I sent you a pm.

I was considering him as I was interviewing the coordinator she quit one week later and two other ladies were trying to contact me on his behalf. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I am going with another surgeon.

I am about to schedule my surgery with Dr Ramos Kelly, I felt very comfortable, however now I dont know what to think.

I know there are people who make fake accounts on forums to put down other doctors, however I am just seeking the truth?

Please has anyone had Dr Kelly this year who is real? and how was your experience?

Aussiegirl, someone posted the phone numbers to the 3 hospitals he lost privileges at in another thread. I don't know where. You can call them and ask about the situation yourself.  I would like to hear the results.  The one person just confirmed that he lost them but didn't say if she asked why or if they would say.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
