cdixon99 5 Posted June 3, 2014 I am only a week out from my surgery today and I feel very hungry. I am still on a clear liquid diet. For the first 5 days I felt absolutely no hunger. But the past two days I'm very hungry. Is this normal?
Abry 28 Posted June 3, 2014 yes it is normal I felt the same way! now i eat Breakfast and then have to set an alarm to remind me to eat ....If not I will forget... I work at a car dealership and it is sometimes hard to stay away from all the junk everyone else is eating but aside from that I am not actually hungry
cdixon99 5 Posted June 3, 2014 Okay thank you! I was getting worried!
MetroDetroitChic 86 Posted June 3, 2014 I had this happen too. I don't remember exactly when I first noticed I was hungry, but it was very early on (within the first week). It would be nice to be without hunger, but even though it's here, the pounds are still coming off.
cdixon99 5 Posted June 4, 2014 Okay this is good to know. I was beginning to think I had a defective sleeve. I suppose once I am able to actually consume substance the hunger will stop for a period of time. At the moment I am feeling hungry all day
teemarie1078 165 Posted June 4, 2014 I wrote a thread about this a few days ago. I have experienced hunger since 10 days out.. Not starving, but hungry! The liquids don't do it for me.. I'm ridiculously excited about purée in 1 week!
cdixon99 5 Posted June 4, 2014 The liquids aren't doing it for me either. My first follow up appt is on Thursday. I should get released for Protein shakes, smoothies and puréed good! I'm also very excited! Thanks for all the comments! It's really helped!
andreamy7 55 Posted June 5, 2014 I find that sometimes my body tries telling me its hungry, but then I drink some tea or Water and maybe have a cracker or some banana and it subsides. You can trick your pouch into thinking you ate... also, everyone heals differently. I didn't hit hunger until 3 wks post op and then I learned that beverages usually helped.
