Today was my second fill at the doctors office. I got one cc in my Band for a total 4 cc's in a 12Cc band. I told the nurse that I was hungry all the time I had no problem eating bread or anything else. She said the protocol was 1 cc and I have an appointment to go back in 3 weeks for a nother one cc. I can't keep taking off from work every 3 wks. I want to see some restrictions. Trying not to be frustrated but goodness.

Why not let the fill take affect before you get frustrated? Fills can take up to 2 weeks to settle in. This is the time you need to look for the satiety signals and develop your new eating habits. Some doctors like to sneak up on the green zone and not rush right in only to fill too much and cause some other obvious problems?

As TMF said, give your fill a chance to take effect. There's a reason they make you wait 3-4 weeks between fills and there's a good reason they only fill in small increments. Once you feel restriction, the margin for error is very small. Even as little as .1cc can put you in the red zone and potentially harm your stomach and or esophagus. I'm sure when you went to your pre-op appointments they laid out the protocol for you. Overfilling and aggressive fills are very dangerous.

Been there too. It is frustrating that you had the surgery and you want satiety now. Completely understand. It is better when they go slower as it's slowly teaching you how to eat too. I can still eat bread even at 6.4ccs but it's smaller nibbles and I savor the bite. Bread is not the tell all indicator if you're green or not. I think I'm a smidge below being actually green and I'm debating about another fill. I still have hunger pains more often than I had hoped but I'm also getting stuck a smidge more than I should. I just know I need to eat slower and chew more.

I realize the weight will not just fall off. I know this journey is work. Sometimes I feel I have to work harder with the band. It's just frustrating at time when you work hard and eat right but don't see any results. I know slow is what better for long term results. I just wish I could see a glimmer if hope on the scale. I set small goals so I wouldn't set myself up for failure but I can't reach the small ones. Sorry to sound like I'm whiny but this is the only place I have to express my frustration with people who understand

Same here Bud!!

I think most of us who need the fills go through that frustration of bandster hell but really slow and steady with the fills is the best way to go. Last thing you want is to be overly aggressive and end up being too tight so then they have to remove Fluid only to find you are toloose again. You chance of starting a see-saw effect and it could end up taking even longer to find that correct balance.

It took me 7 months to get to the right spot and my Wife who had surgery 8 months ago is now just hitting her stride with "restriction".

Jim, that was an interesting stroll down memory lane!

I used to post on this old thread, Dr. Kirschenbaum. I recall ranting on there in February of 2012 similar to the vent on this topic but maybe with some more colorful language. Good to read these old posts to remind ourselves what newbies we once were and OMG, how naïve I once was.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
