When food doesn't agree with your tummy?

Recommended Posts

I am also nearly 5 months out. Pain is the symptom for me. I can usually eat spicy food - but chicken Szechuan nearly had me doubled over last night. I've learned my lesson about that one!

I'm only 3 weeks post-op and just started on puréed foods and soft fish, but I noticed if I eat too fast or take too big of a bite my little tummy cramps up which tells me it's time to stop because it's quite painful. Fortunately, I've listened and the pain only lasts a few seconds. I can't imagine if it were to go on for any length of time.

If something doesn't agree or even if I eat a little too quickly, it's not so much pain for me but an intense bloaty feeling... then the fun slimies that seem to want to come back up over 'n over again. Sometimes the best/only way to relieve it is to just go and hork. TMI, maybe, but 'tis my reality.

I had this last night with milk. I am just over 5 months out. Horrible nausea and pain.

For me when I eat something that doesn't agree or eat too fast it's just pain. The pain can vary in intensity too from mild to doubled over. It is NOT fun.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
