I am scheduled for surgery this Friday. I am in sales and only get paid if I am out meeting with clients. Usually I am in a couple cities a week. Anyone else in same position? Trying to set realistic goals for myself, but also need to pay my mortgage. Interested in my fellow road warriors experiences.

I spend a lot of time on the road. I'm low carb high fat so I rely a lot on breve lattes, egg salad wrapped in swiss cheese, nuts, avocados, Cole slaws ect. The hard part is dealing with inevitable leftovers. Without access to a fridge it gets rough. Some Protein Shakes can be purchased at 7-11 or gas stations. Most hotels have a gym and yoga is always accessible. I do a fair amount of wining and dining. This is rough. I can't drink and eat at the same time. I always schedule apps and drinks so it takes some pressure off.

Thanks for reply. Curious, how long did you wait before you started traveling after your surgery?

I had a fast recovery and flew 8 days after my surgery. Just don't lift too much too early. Getting in and out of my car was harder than flying. Just remember to walk often to keep your circulation moving. Everyone is different. Start slow. Get plenty of rest and sip that Water.

Hi;

Fellow road warrior here. I was traveling 6 working days after surgery, but I was very tired. Understand your energy level will not be the same, so don't expect to work a full day with clients and then go back to the room to set up next day appt or paperwork. You will need to rest and recover.

Most important factor of recovery is not to get dehyrated. I would always stop and pick up a G2 or sugar free electrolyte drink that I could sip on in my coffee mug throughout the day & in my meetings. I scheduled a lot of sit downs. Okay to order a drnk, like tea and explain you are eating lighter or something else. Gets you out faster and back to room

You can pick up muscle milk at a lot of convience stores, in a pinch I would order a sugar free vanilla latte from SB with 10 grams of protien and under 150 calories.

The key is good planning. I am confident you can do this with preparation and by sticking to goals.

I love my sleeve - no regrets.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
