Well, well, well, it's true!! Exercise does work!! I've been banded for 8 months, and the weight is coming off slowly but surely; however, I have had NO TIME (literally) to exercise. I couldn't even fit in a 20 minute walk. Now that my schedule isn't as packed, I joined a gym and got a short-term personal trainer. OH MY GOSH the weight is falling off now! I am amazed!! I know everyone knows in their head that exercise makes a difference, but I would give anything if I'd been able to start before now!! Soooo, my point is, if at all possible, GO OUT AND DO IT!! Get some vigorous exercise, and you'll be amazed!!! :clap2:

Before I was banded, I asked the question to all the LBT members who were banded, what they would have done different. The biggest thing most of them said is they wished they would have started exercising from the beginning. I try and learn from other peoples mistakes, so I took all their advice to heart and have been exercising from the very beginning. I've missed a week here and there, but for the most part, I have been pretty consistant and am pleased with my results.

Congratulations on joining a gym and i'm envious that you have a personal trainer. I really would love to hire one myself, but can't afford it right now, but maybe after the summer I will get one.

My trainer is only $150 month and that includes full use of the cardio equipment anytime/any day. The personal training sessions are 3 days a week, and it's a lot of weight training.... some free weights, some bands, and some machines. Of course you don't have to pay to get this, but it sure did get my butt in gear!!!

You are all so right about the excercise. I excercise 3 days a week at the gym doing cardio and weights. Just doing that helps the scale drop. When I work out, I lose about 2 -3 lbs a week. When I skip a week i maybe loose 1 or not at all! I'm a believer plus i feel great.

WOW - thats a bargain! I've priced them here and they are about $50 a session, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets (but you have to buy about 10 to get a cheaper rate), so I would have to pay around $100 to $150 per week. arrggggg - just can't do that right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
