Hi there! Best of luck on your surgery. I wish I were going in July. I certainly hope so but it would be wishful thinking since my first surgeon appt is June 18th. My insurance approved though and my only requirements are nutritionist (also scheduled for the 18th) and Psych consult so it is possible...:-)

July 24th for me, can't wait! My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet. I was told to eat light for 2 days before surgery.

Good luck to everyone.

i don't think my surgeon requires more than a few days liquid diet.< /p>

I am "practicing" eating low-carb, taking little bites but most important I been practicing not drinking while eating. I stop drinking anything 30 minutes before I eat and I wait at least 30 minutes after I eat to drink...to me this would be the most diffficult change- this is the one rule they say has to be followed forever.

It actually hasn't been to bad but does take getting used too, will be so glad to have to practice set in by surgery.

I'm hoping for July 24 too! Last appointment with dietician is June 30, then if approval goes smooth I'll be a July sleever too!

Got my surgery date today....July 1st!!! Yay! I'll be starting my 2 week pre-op diet on 6/17.

I went ahead and applied with insure nutrition as soon as I had my date to see if I could get my Protein shakes covered by my insurance. I don't know if they'll be covered, but I figured it was worth a shot. If you haven't checked into it, go to their website and apply (www.insurenutrition.com) . If your insurance will cover, you can pick between Optifast shakes or Premium Protein (which I like) and they'll deliver to your door!

Best of luck fellow July sleevers! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
