Was telling my husband last night how much I really hated the liquid portion of this diet. I just want some texture! But I was a good girl and I still put my cream Soup in the blender to knock out any unwanted chunks. Welp, this morning as I'm getting ready for work I pull my scrubs put of the dryer and throw them on. OMG! They are fitting comfortably!! I don't have to tug at the fabric to loosen my tight spots I don't have to bend to stretch out my top to make sure it's fitting right! It's hanging comfortably on me! And I feel great in them! I am 6 days post op and I'm already down 22 lbs! Who knew this feeling would be so awesome?!

Thank you!! I know it's such a minor detail and such a long road ahead, but something so simple can be such a huge pick me up!!

WTG! 6 days post op here too! I'm down about 20 lbs...my only gripe so far is that nobody ever told me the truth about how hard diet progression was going to be and how difficult it can be to build up the tolerance to keep food/liquids in your new pouch.

I find that broth doesn't work for me. Protein Shakes, fruit smoothie, yogurt, and Soups in the blender. That's what gives me the fuller feeling. I am still learning to slow down as I eat and kicking myself when I start feeling the need to hiccup or burp because I ate too much too fast. It's not easy! It's like I was telling my husband last night, it's not that I'm starving it's that I want texture and substance.

broth and clear light liquids is a rough one. Soon you will be on mushy foods and then you will have that texture your craving and it will be oh so good. My hubby and I were banded at just about the same time (3 days apart) and he didn't understand what I was talking about either. Everyone has different tastes and different needs, it's very true. What works for one might not work for another even if you are in the same house had the same surgery with the same Dr. at the same time :)

Don't kick yourself this banded life takes a minute or 20 to learn. There is an ap for your phone eat slow or something like that you can look for and that will help you to time out your meals when you sit to eat them or drink them for now :)

Eventually you will get the hang of it and it will become like second nature to chew chew chew and put that for down between bites and not drink and eat together.

Sounds like your doing awesome already!

congrats! i loved the feeling of putting on jeans, fresh out of the dryer, on and still having some room. i cant remember the last time i didnt have to jump, tug, and squat to get a pair of jeans out of the dryer to fit comfortably.

i'm only 4 weeks post op, so i can relate. being moved to soft foods was the best day ever! haha

I don't have a scale ether, but when I drop my son off to my parents before school in the mornings I sneak in the bathroom and peek at the scale! I know a lot of people have been saying not to check ever day, so I've only done it once a week! You will be so surprised and happy with yourself when you finally get the chance to look! ????????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
