Hey fellow bypassers. My name is Bridgette, and I have been on an emotional journey which started a year ago.

I weigh right now at 325. Which is five pounds heavier than I did on the surgery date from which I figured was from gas

So my surgeon couldnt do it, too much fat in my abdominal cavity, closed me up and left.

my mom wants to sue for reasons that we are broke, we told him if he didnt think he could or wouldnt then dont and he did. We did a bunch of test, including ultrasounds

Any who getting off track, you can find more about that in theforum titled aborted.

Any who, I met with a Dr. Nowzaradan, and he gave me a week to loose 5-20 pounds....

does this mean he is gonna take a chance on me?

I sure hope so mama. I know ideally you probably want to go laparoscopic but you may need the large incision. I was a size 18 the day of my surgery and carry most of my weight in the middle. Well my liver ended up being fattier than they thought. My surgery lasted 4 hours because they had to keep lifting the liver up and out of the way. I managed to get away with 4 incisions. If you have insurance you might want to see if they offer a patient advocate. You can also get to know your surgeons staff which goes a long way. The bariatric coordinator, his nurses, residents etc. Try to communicate as much as possible. They may be doctors but they are human just like all of us. Some have a God-complex but empower yourself...keep that chin up. Best of luck to you...

If that's the guy from the TV show then he wants to see if you are so addicted to food that the surgery wouldn't help.

I would guess if you do a liquid diet for a week with high Protein you could probably lose at least five if not more.

Some people he asks to lose weight just can't or don't. And one woman was being so enabled by her family he had her in the hospital for a month to see if she could lose away from them.

Good luck to you. I hope he helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
