fluffyinwv 1 Posted June 2, 2014 So It's a year later...I'm down 130lbs...i have came so far in one year, however my worry is at my 6 month check up my Dr said to stay in the 600 calorie range (im assuming because i started at such a high weight and have so much to lose)...i lost most of my weight within the first 7 months, had my checkup in late november...december and january i lost NOTHING even though i stayed at 600 calories and 70 grams of Protein a day and i work out at least 4-5 days a week for an hr and try to do at least 3miles...february and march i lost a few more but stayed at minimal carbs ( i have realized i will never be able to have many)...April i would bounce between a pound or two and go back and forth for a couple weeks then finally lost 4lbs....its been so frustrating!!! I have read many times to not change what you're doing(calories and exercise) so I dont, I upped my calories by 200 a couple times to try to get things going and I started doing more at the gym....I have my 1 year check up next week and hoping he can help me, I can't help but wonder if Im hurting myself more by staying at 600 calories, when I read on here most people are at least 800-1000 calories a day....are others having this same problem? I just want to start losing again and of course my worst fear is how can i be doing what I'm supposed to be and not getting anywhere...surely it can't be over???!!! MelBooks 76 Posted June 3, 2014 Every doctor is different, but our handbook specifically says that a level of 1000-1200 calories at the bare minimum to ensure healthy weight loss. Any less and your body is not effective at losing the weight.
hopeful2 be slim 121 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) i have also read that 600 calories is too less...maybe you should .try eating more...for a few days..you may start your weight loss. if you are stressed about your weight again body will not respond. Andrew0929 1,101 Posted June 5, 2014 At 4 months out, both my nut and surgeon increased my daily calories to 1000-1200. Both said that my weight loss should actually accelerate after doing so and it did.
onajournee 20 Posted June 5, 2014 600 seems too low. I also think 1000-1200 range is where you should be for good health and weight loss
Beachbum2017 108 Posted June 5, 2014 Interesting - though my doctor said 800 at 6 months and then they said 800 again at 9 month checkup (just last week) - I haven't lost any weight since right after my 6 month checkup when I upped it to 800 and I've been wondering if I should go back down to 600 to lose this last 13 lbs. I KNOW it gets harder the further out that you get but this is ridiculous. Now I'm worried that I'm not getting enough calories and am actually screwing up my metabolism even worse!! I've tried everything - going back to 2 shakes a day and dinner, upping the exercise, etc. Getting really discouraged.
fluffyinwv 1 Posted June 7, 2014 Thanks everyone! I decided what could it hurt and experimented for a week on 900 calories, good- for -you foods but more, making sure i ate every 3 hours or so and the scale moved!!! I will check next week when i have my 1 year check up to see where he thinks i should be with the calories, but if I keep losing with the added calories then that is what i will do!!!
