I had my surgery May 14th and felt great the first 3 days. That is where it went down hill. I went to the emergency room with severe chest pain but they couldn't find anything wrong. I was not able to drink any Protein after 3 days. I have now started on mushy food and was expecting to start feeling so much better, but I'm not. My food all feels like it is stuck in my throat. I always feel like I want to throw up. I get really bad back ache's and get dizzy if I am up too much walking around. Has anyone else experienced these problems?

I felt like crap for 6 weeks after surgery, and it took me that long to find the optimal balance of Protein, Water and calories. You might be slower to heal, so going back to liquids for a few more days might be a good idea. Make sure you are getting enough Water, as being dehydrated will also slow the healing process.

I am a slow healer as well. I had my sleeve on may 27th. I felt OK in the hospital... then went home the night after and spent the next 9days on Clear Liquids and unable to progress to full liquids or any Proteins. I lost a lot of muscle strength during that time. I am now finally in between full liquids and light purees! My body hurts like heck and I am still rebuilding my strength via swimming and Water resistance. The chest pain was most likely the co2 gas trapped in your tissues trying to work it's way out of your body. That was quite uncomfortable. :(

I have tried to look at my day and find the one positive change each day and focus on that! Like...the 1st day I did not have to take meds for nausea, the first day I got my 64 oz of fluids, the first day I met my Protein intake!

I am not saying all is perfect but I will Celebrate my positives which helps me have perspective that in spite of how crappy I feel right now I am making small progress!!

Generally it takes 6mo-1year to totally feel right after the trauma of surgery.

Wow.

I did a 10K 3 weeks and a day after surgery. I didn't start feeling worse until after my body ran out of fuel. Until then I was unstoppable. Even on a PICC I'm like put me back in the Water after 10 days, I'm fueled now!

What I'm wondering is how you managed to get a pass to swim. I had to wait 1 month (actually 2 days short of a month) before I could do that. I'm completely pea green with envy.

At 8 weeks out my major problem is fatigue. I can eat anything for the most part. Keep on the Water hard the rest will come in time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
