Looking for a good surgeon in Georgia for the Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I attended Dr. Titus Duncan (Atlanta Bariatric) seminar on wls three weeks ago. The only call I have received from his office is to verify my insurance member number. I know my insurance cover wls because I called and checked myself before pursuing this journey. The only thing left to say is either Dr. Titus Duncan staff is not doing what they suppose to, Dr. Duncan is just too busy or he is not interested in treating me. Either way I am not going to let this discourage me because I am on a journey to better my health and life.

I am now looking for other surgeons to research and get you all opinions on in the Georgia. I feel I have wasted enough time waiting on Dr. Titus Duncan and his staff to get in touch with me. Please share your surgeon and experience in the Georgia area with me if you don't mind.

Thanks

I'm just starting out on this journey. I attended my first appointment a few weeks ago at Emory University Hospital Midtown (the old Crawford Long) and had a good experience. They have a Bariatric center of excellence that's recommended by my insurance company. I'll be using them and Dr. Singh thru my 6 month supervised diet. Not sure yet who the surgeon will be (still too early out) but if you google them they have tons of information on their website. Best of luck to you!

I also went to a weight loss center.... Franciscan Weight Loss Center in WA. This is what they do! So they are well set up to see you through the process. Look for that type of set up in your area.

Dr Macik at Northside Hospital did my surgery. You can research him online. He's done the most Gastric Sleeve surgeries in Georgia.

I'm using Dr. Richard in Duluth :) Everything so far has been smooth and easy, they've done all the calling/gathering of info and working to set up my appts. I'm used to having to do everything myself and fight for information, it's very refreshing!

I used Dr. Wes Turton at West Georgia Medical. He was excellent, and his staff was wonderful. The hospital itself was gorgeous, and the staff at the hospital treat you like you are a family member. I had absolutely no complications, and none of Dr. Turton's patients has ever had a leak. He oversews the suture line just to make sure. He also repaired my hiatal hernia during the surgery. I recommend him to anyone.

Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Hart or Dr. Johnson at Atlanta Bariatric Surgery? Could you please tell me about your experience?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
