I was sleeved June 12th (one week today) and see my surgeon tomorrow to remove my staples. I have a LOT of staples. I have 4-5 in each of four small incisions and 9 in the large one. I didn't expect all these staples, i though the smaller incisions would be glued. I'm nervous about having the staples removed, my incisions are still very sore, though not infected. Does it hurt when they remove them?

Aygad,

If temp gets above 101, you need to get checked out just to be sure it is not an infection.

The reason some patients can run a low grade temp after a surgery is due to the lack of good deep breathing and activity. It is also related to the body cleaning itself from all the anesthesia during the surgery. However, if it is a consistently temp above 101, with pain that is not relieved by medications, you must get checked out.

Aygad, I am pre op but what I am reading is that individuals are experiencing these pains after the sips, which would be similar to your pain. I know you are worried, but I believe if it were a leak you would be experiencing symptoms that you could not ignore, and you would know it.

Are you walking ?

I too am self pay, and have great concerns about post op complications after I get back from Mexico...... I'll say a little prayer it's just gas pain.............

Katonabout,

I have removed hundreds of staples, most patients say it doesn't hurt, or it's just a little stinging sensation.... Good Luck.

Tried egg for first time. Scrambled 1 with white of a second. Probably ate 1/4.

Belly looks like a war zone with bruising from the louvonex injections and my 6 holes. Dr removed my steri strips today.

Down almost 20 pounds total.

First post. I had my sleeve done on June 9th. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. No complications, and actually left with the "record" for most laps walked around the surgical wing for surgery day. I have to say that was the biggest help in my opinion, getting out of bed. I immediately felt gas relief, and got everything moving, including a BM the day after surgery, and the morning I left. I was very excited, Lol. I had my 10 day post op today. I've lost 19lbs since surgery. I was on a 28 day pre-op diet, and have to take Lovenox injections twice daily post-op. I have been in support groups and heard many complaints, and then I would speak up, and let them know it could be worse, you could be me. But, I am very happy with the precautions my surgeon has taken with me because I feel great. I was totally off all pain meds within 5 days and I attribute that to my minimum 1.5 mile walks every morning since discharge. The fluids are difficult to keep up with, but I now am never without Water by my side. I start my mushies this weekend. Very excited for a change. I just want to remind everyone having difficulty that it didn't happen overnight for us to get to this point, and it's not going to get better overnight either. One day at a time, and make each day count!

I was sleeved on June 10th. I lost 10 lbs pre op and have not lost any since. I also have only had 1 very small bm ( sorry). I have been walking but having a hard time getting all the Water down. I am finally feeling ok and no more pain and incisions look good and are no longer sore. I stopped my antibiotics because i just can't do it anymore...the crushing makes me want to vomit. I also got a yeast infection from the antibiotics. Ugh! I will be glad when I feel 100% and actually have weight loss to make going thru all this feel worth it.

Hey all!

I am day 11 post-op and had my first bad food experience. I've been on pureed since monday and have kept it very simple. Cream Soup, ricotta cheese, refried Beans, pudding...

Today I pureed one meatball with some gravy. I don't think I thinned it enough with the gravy. It went down like a lead weight. It felt like the food was sitting in the spot where my esophagus meets sleeve.

I ate less than 2 oz and felt slightly nauseous. My sleeve felt so full. Yuck. I ended up laying down for about an hour until it seems like the food passed through.

Think I'll go back to the one ingredient foods for a bit longer.

I was sleeved jun9 too. I have not had many issues, all went smoothly, and I feel great. I'm down ten pounds since surgery, but the scale hasn't moved since Sunday , am I weighing in too often? It's frustrating not seeing the scale move! Last night I made my family a big salad, without a thought I grabbed a lettuce leaf and ate it out of the bowl, huge mistake! It felt stuck and eventually had to throw up. Ugh.

cutiecake, I was sleeved on the 9th too and I have already hit a stall. If it wasn't for having read all of the posts about stalls I would have freaked out. It is discouraging but I know I have to keep on keeping on.

Stalls are normal. You body has set points that are more difficult to overcome. I just hit a weight that I know I was at for a good year. Well it took me 4 days to fully pass that weight, sleeved on June 10. If you have you weight history in mind you may remember places where you body stayed the same weight for awhile. You may find this to be your set points..

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
