My husband and I felt great and I was at the store 3 days after surgery. I needed no pain meds at home. I still feel great. If something is wrong please call your doctor's office and get their opinion. Maybe you have a problem that needs fixing. I am 67 years old and never felt better in my life. I wish you better days!

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and I'm just now starting to feel normal. My surgery was on 5/14 and I went back to work on 5/27. I felt a little weak and tired at work, but I was also putting in 12-15 hour days from the start, so no time to really rest. I feel so much better today and I'm about to go out and walk my first 2 miles!

I understand about mourning the loss of your stomach, I think it is common. I did it also - for about an hour, then I realized "good riddance", I didn't need that big old thing in there anyway. I want a new tiny stomach that will help me control how much I eat. If your depression continues, I would definitely talk to your doctor.

You're only 3 days out...it gets a little better each day, just hang in there! But again if you're in severe pain or you honestly feel something is wrong, please call your doctor.

Sorry you are feeling this way, but please remember you have just gone through MAJOR SURGERY, so your body AND your mind are kinda in SHOCK! You are not in bad physical pain, are you? You have pain meds to take to control that, right?

"When" you start feeling better is so different for everyone. What helps the most is to follow the guidelines that you are given by your surgeon, and to keep a positive attitude even when that sometimes is so hard to do right after your surgery.

Mourning the loss of your stomach to make the sleeve is normal too, but try to remember that this sleeve is your ticket to helping you learn how to develop your new eating habits and lifestyle to achieve the weight loss and health goals you want for yourself.

Rest up and try to focus as much as you can on healing from your surgery and of course you know the best way to do that is to follow what your surgeon has told you--the Protein and the Water are most important for these first couple weeks.

It's all so overwhelming at first, but have faith that you will feel so much better soon, and that you have such an incredible new and exciting adventure ahead of you. Take care and let us know how you are doing. . .

When we are impatient and wanting things to happen quickly, we are wishing our lives away. Life is really fleeting. I sit here at 67 years old and say where the heck did those years go. Enjoy the sunshine, walk outside and feel the breeze. Cherish each moment of your recovery and like me, six months will pass before you know it. Just a faint memory now, that post op stuff!

I asked the same question when I has my surgery on the 21st. The gas pains were out of this world!!!! After about a week I started to feel relief...I couldn't drink a lot because I was so afraid of more gas pains!! Now I can drink with a bit more comfort....Congrats on your surgery!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
