Recommended Posts

I lost close to 100 lbs. within the first 9 months...then NOTHING in the past 3 or so ? balanced diet, moderate exercise and stuck at 223-225 mark, I would love to be down to 165-170 range. Any suggestions ?

I've heard of stalls happening. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out from sleeve surgery, but I was previously banded and I go to support groups. Many of them mention having a stall for 1, 2, 3 or even more months. They said eventually it would break, but recommend switching up your diet and perhaps trying a different exercise routine. Your body gets comfortable with what it knows so you need to change things up every once in a while to keep it guessing and therefore, burning calories.

Another thing they say is, that even though they didn't lose weight over some time, they still dropped inches. So maybe your body is just reshaping itself and getting ready for the next drop :)

Oh and 100 lbs in one year is fantastic! Patience my friend, you're doing wonderful.

I lost my majority of weight in 10 months (100 lb). But I'm female, my total weight loss goal range was 100-110 lbs, and I lost an additional 10 lbs between year 1 and 3. Guys definitely lose differently--for that matter, EVERYONE loses so differently!!! You will get a lot of valuable feedback to your question. But I think the general consensus will be that you ARE NOT done losing weight. Hang in there and keep on doing the right stuff! And--congratulations on your amazing progress so far. It IS awesome, you know. . .

I am one year (May 15th) and my weight has not flucuated one single lb in 54 days. I have 1000-1200 calories a day.

I exercise religiously and change it up at time dues to weather and life's general twists and turns.

Would I like to lose more? Of course, I have lost 62 lbs but now I am losing inches. So I am thinking I would like to continue to sport a full head of hair and not have saggy skin and thrilled to be in a size 10 pants and my BMI is <27

Went to the Dr and he said, "Oh good" you lost 2 lbs since your last visit. He said that I lost 83% of goal weight in year.

Not to worry.

I'll be one year post op on the 7th as well. I have been doing a yo yo routine between 243 lbs and 248 lbs since April. I'll admit that I have been leading a more sedentary life at the moment and could use a kick in the rear to start exercising more. Hoping that this is just a minor setback and will be back on track soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
