Unfilled after 4 years

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery nearly 4 years ago. Until September 2005 I had lost 83lb with 20 still remaining, but had a personal tragedy, which forced me to take antidpressants - which were necessary at the time, but put 50+ pounds back on me in a little over a year.

I am now medication free and decided that the only way to cope with my weight was HEALTH HEALTH AND HEALTH - so I joined the gym 7 weeks ago (doing 10 or more hours a week) and yesterday got all the Fluid out of my band, so I could eat salad and really healthy without vomiting. The specialist felt my decision was an excellent one - I feel better already!

What was right for me - isn't for everyone, but in the long run we all want to live longer, healthier and happier lives.

Glenda

Wow, I am new to this board, but I wanted to say that your message really sounds like a positive step for you and what a wonderful way to do something for yourself and the loved ones around you. Taking care to make sure you are as healthy for yourself as you can be, as my kids say, we all count....every last one of us, big small, short, tall.....no matter who you are, you count!!! Good luck!

Best wishes to you! Going of anti depressants and the band and going for it is great!

I can eat salads just fine with the band......just shows how different we all are.

Glenda I think it's wonderful that you can make sure great decisions even after 4 years, whatever works for you. I can eat salads better now that I had a slight unfill, I too suffered thru 1 year being too tight. I didn't lose a pound until I started exercising every day. Even after my slight unfil 4 months ago I continue to lose weight. I'm also over 4 years out.

Good luck.

I figure if my band does not start working without problems, I will get a total unfill at my one year mark. It does no good to try and go low carb, if nothing low carb will go down. I will be right with you, and totally understand why you did it.

Now, you have the tool if you need it again, but learn to live healthy without the fill and you may never need it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
