I'm 19 days out and I was on that pain stuff for a solid week, plus 1 extra day where my ab muscles were playing up. Take the meds and walk! Those pain meds are a freakin godsend.

tarbaby it looks like you were at the end of day 2, which I think is the hardest. I'm currently the end of day 2 and will be where you were i a few hours. Right now the heavy pain meds are off, burps are picking up and its painful. But from what everyone has said tomorrow when I get the drain out after the 3rd leak test the pain subsides so so much. What is everyone taking for pain meds when they get home?? I start work back on day 6 :(

Lylabelle I hope you have a pretty easy going job. I am at day 10 and can't imagine going back to work yet. No energy. Pain is very minimal but our bodies just went through a lot of trauma. Hope you can rest at work <3

Hi Jess. I do nails! So while I'm sitting the whole time it isn't super restful. I was able to get my first few days down to about 5 hours, which helps. Energy level is fine, just sore. Hope leaving over the table isn't awful, or twisting when I file. If I can get past that it won't be totally aweful.

I am two days out. And I can control the pain. Actual walked 1.33 miles this morning, but I am having trouble swallowing. Every sip I take I feel it going down and a bubble. And I am in no way taking big sips. Hang in there. Day 4 should not be like day 2. Thats what gonna keep me going.

I had the same problem when drinking the first five days maybe. It seemed like I was always swallowing air and it was painful. Alas it does get better!!

Every day is better than the day before. It really does get better very quickly. And remember, sip, sip, sip.

Im still on the fence about surgery. I started a new job and I wont have enough vacation and sick tome built up until november. My job is along the line of a nurse in a clinic, lots of walking but not any heavy lifting. So until then im seeing the nutrition person monthly, doing all the preop and doing lots of reading. This thread helps. Thank you

To the people that are in pain, does it feel like your belly button is ripping inside or something?? I think the staples are rubbing on the inside against my skin?

I feel it mostly when I'm getting up from sitting or laying.

Wow that really sucks. Everyone has a different threshold for pain. I thought it was way easier then expected an took full advantage of my beautiful Norco!

Are you taking pain meds? Are you walking for 30 min a day?

I went back on Day 4, worked from home, then I was off until Day 8. I returned to the office on Day 8 without any trouble (desk job). Day 4 was a little off (I didn't allow myself to take pain meds since I was working), but I'm glad I got control of things. If I wasn't feeling right, I would have called off in a second. I knew I was mentally ready.

No I'm not taking pain meds. I am walking at least an hour a day.

OK why aren't you taking any pain meds? I mean really, it's a surgery, it's going to be painful until it heals. No matter if it's gallbladder, tumor removal, whatever. It's painful. Talk to your doc and find out what you can take. It's not a time to try to be a hero :-)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
